A federal judge has ordered the Food and Drug Administration to provide a free trial card for Viagra customers who get their prescriptions filled by a pharmacy. According to court filings, the pharmacy will provide this card to the U. S. District Court for the District of New Jersey.
FDA spokeswoman Christine Cramer said the company has not received any notifications from the FDA regarding the pending order, but that it remains committed to providing a free trial card for the customers who can get their prescriptions filled. Cramer said the company is working with the FDA to ensure that customers who do not meet the drug’s approved criteria will receive the free trial card.
A spokeswoman for the FDA did not immediately return calls or emails seeking comment.
“A drug, medication or product is not for sale or to be used in a way that is not medically appropriate and is for the consumer’s personal use only. It should not be used by individuals with a known allergy or allergy to any drug,” the FDA said in a news release. “The FDA does not review and approve prescription drugs for use in children or women.”
